As the National Mission on Power Electronics Technology has ambitious aims in application oriented R&D in power electronics with a view to reap its commercial benefits, it needs to be guided by a judicious mix of experts in both academia and industry. To this end, a Steering Committee has been constituted which has a rich constellation of talents from institutions like the Indian Institute of Science(IISc), Indian Institute of Technology(IITs) as well as from User Industries like railways, steel, power etc and Manufacturing Industries.

The well-known doyen of technology Dr. V. K. Aatre who was Advisor to Defense Minister for a time, chairs the 16 member Committee. Prof. V.Ramanarayanan who is with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is coordinating the academic activities undertaken by the Mission. Mr. T.K.Sarkar, Senior Director, Department of Information Technology, who has a particular interest in Power Electronics is the Member Convener of the Committee.
